General: The
game the people thought they would never see had arrived in the year 2000...
Stars from both worlds of Capcom and SNK came together to make a "somewhat"
innovative fighting game in the year 2000... Players can choose from two
"grooves," Capcom or SNK, which allows the player to have either a Street
Fighter Alpha 3 style triple bar super meter, or a AOF / KOF style charge
super meter...
The
graphics look great all around. The SNK characters were completely re-drawn
"Capcom style" and most of them look better than ever! Although a few Capcom
characters, like Ryu, Ken, and Bison, were re-drawn with a new fresh look,
Capcom used some older Street Fighter Alpha sprites
for some of the classic Street Fighter characters. But who can blame them,
most of the Alpha sprites look pretty good; like Guile, Honda, and Cammy,
but some just need to be redone; *cough* Sagat *cough*...
Although
a few character moves are missing, most SNK characters were presented "fairly"
well... The backgrounds are also very impressive, with some unique "intros,"
something that the sequel actually lacked! But the only thing that bugged
everyone was the title... CAPCOM VS SNK... And this game was more along
the lines of King of Fighters VS Street Fighter...

Comment: While
it's a fun game to watch, not the same can be said about the gameplay.
I think it's somewhat stiff, and not really all that enjoyable. Luckily,
Capcom
VS SNK 2 fixed those problems, and made a much better game overall.
So this game is basically what you'd refer to as a stepping stone.
