General:
Dan's father Go was
a Muay Thai artist. However, in a battle with Sagat he destroyed his eye,
and an enraged Sagat killed Go. Dan joined Gouken's dojo to become strong
enough to beat Sagat, but Gouken threw him out when he noticed this. Dan
then created his own Saikyo style. He met Sagat and managed to win, probably
because Sagat realized his error and wanted to save Dan from the part of
vengeance. Dan then tried to take Sakura as his student, and also met up
with Blanka again.

Sporting his badass,
pink Saikyo uniform, Dan is a straight-up mock of SNK's
Robert
Garcia, Yuri Sakazaki, and
Ryo
Sakazaki... He is one of the first "joke / goofy" fighting game characters,
if not THE first... With the presence of his vivid persona, you kind of
forget he's "just another fighter in a karate uniform." He's definitely
the master of funny mannerisms.
